This weekend, September 17th and 18th, you’ll find the Rock-n-Rib Festival at the B-O-K Center and then next weekend, September 24th and 25th, the Art of BBQ at OneOK Field.  It is a tasty trend in Tulsa.

Tim Kelly has cooked his way across the region as part of the competition BBQ team 3 Guys Smokin.  He has seen several BBQ competitions grow to unbelievable prestige and size in recent years.

3 Guys Scores First in Taste!

Last weekend competition steak teams from all over the country flocked to beautiful downtown Tulsa to compete in the Oklahoma Steak Cook-off.  This is the third year for this grueling event involving twelve hours of setup and cooking in temperatures above 100 degrees.  But for one local team, it was worth it!

Oklahoma's oldest BBQ team, 3 Guys Smokin', came home with 4th place over-all against 50 regional and national steak superstars.  Craig "Cutter" Dahlquist poured over 25 years of competition steak experience into the final product, a single rib-eye that won the hearts of the judges and earned a modest place in steak history.

The 3 Guys entry was judged on many factors, including appearance and temperature.  The most important category is taste, and 3 Guys Smokin’ won first place in taste with a score of 56 points, a full 2 points above the next closest competitor.

Top That! Pizza Features 3 Guys Creations

Don't know if you've been there yet, but if you haven't, you need to try Top That! Pizza on 83rd and Memorial in Tulsa.  They are a new franchise concept that has gone viral!  The best pizza I have ever had. . .and fast!  They specialize in custom personal pizzas on a variety of crusts that litterally take about 2 minutes from topping to your mouth.

14th Annual Art of BBQ

Hard to believe it has already been a year since the Art of BBQ was moved to downtown Tulsa at the fantastic new Tulsa Drillers OneOk field.  The pecan and oak has been cureing now for about 8 months and is ready to be split and packed on to the smoker witch is also sporting a new coat of paint and some fresh graphics.

A lot has happened since last year's AOB and improvements in effency and organization for the event have paid off.  As of today, more than half the teams have already signed up and reserved their spots.  In fact, there is only room for about 20 more.  The staff has added additional sponsor events and opportunities and the logistics of the event have been improved to benifit the teams and make for a more comfortable enviroment.

Hopefully we will get to see all of our friends there and enjoy some great food, entertainment and competition.

2011 Bixby BBQ & Music Festival

Come on out and join us on May the 7th.  We will be cookin' up the people's choice BBQ and hopefully bringing home a few more awards.  We are the host team again this year and are thrilled that this event has grown to almost 100 teams.  There will be a huge kids area and some great bands including David Dover, Travis Kidd, Candy Coburn and others.  Get there at around 10:30 and get your taster plate while they last, then stay for great music and food.
